Myrna Norman

Ms. Norman joined IBI Group in 2000 and is the Business Manager of the firm. As a CPA, she honed her analytical and organizational skills through her work with doctors, lawyers and public accountants.

Myrna currently oversees business operations for IBI Group in Texas and Oregon and is responsible for managing and monitoring project-related finances. She also manages the day-to-day operations of the accounting department while working closely with the Principals to advance the firm’s strategic financial goals.

Rick has 17+ years of experience in landscape architecture. Since joining the firm in 2001, Rick has participated in a broad spectrum of project types. His experience ranges from urban parks and plazas, on-structure projects, intensive and extensive green-roofs, corporate and academic campuses, streetscapes, bikeways, canalways, perimeter security and natural resource management. As a technical resource within the office, Rick has extensive experience in making design concepts reality, solving complex constructability issues, and ensuring quality control throughout the construction process.

James Kros joined the professional staff of IBI Placemaking as an Associate in the fall of 2007. He brings to his role strong leadership experience directing complex projects, from concept design through construction documents and permitting to fully operational status. His varied project types include corporate and healthcare campuses, parks and open space, mixed-use developments, streetscapes, public housing, colleges and universities, as well as work in the Middle East and around the world for the U.S. government.

Horace Aikman serves IBI Placemaking with a broad portfolio of project experience and responsibilities related to technical and management standards. Over the past 30+ years he has overseen a wide range of project types, from large infrastructure projects to small residential-scale installation, in the public, private and institutional markets. He has worked on projects in all of the New England states, in the mid-West and mid-Atlantic regions, and on a variety of overseas projects.

Horace develops and maintains our library of site-related technical specifications, including site unit masonry, wood construction, landscape metals, site concrete, green roofs, pavements and earthwork systems. He serves as the on-call technical consultant to Project Managers and staff Landscape Architects, responding to technical challenges during design, preparation of construction documents and during construction phase services.

Nicholas Healy

Since joining IBI Placemaking in 2004, Nick has played a key role on a range of public and private sector development projects in the U.S. and abroad. In Nick’s 15 years with the firm, he has participated in project types that include U.S. Embassies; college, university and high school campuses; private urban developments; child wellness and assisted care facilities; housing; public parks; streetscapes; cemeteries and various design competitions.

Between 2008 and 2010, Nick served as a key project team member of IBI Placemaking’s Abu Dhabi office, where he was responsible for design studies, site related construction documents and specifications, supervision of site construction, consultant coordination and client relations.

Since his return to the States, Nick has worked on several local and regional projects with responsibilities including design development, presentation drawings, contract documentation, specifications and cost estimating with a primary focus on project management and construction administration and supervision.

Ruth Loetterle

Ruth joined IBI Placemaking in 1980. Since that time she has worked on a variety of projects from master planning and site design of public and mixed income housing to signage design. More recently her work has focused on the master planning and site design for a variety of institutions – colleges, universities, secondary schools, neighborhood groups, nature centers, and botanical gardens. Ruth enjoys working with institutional communities to plan and design facilities that meet their needs and reflect their image and unique character, using workshops to gather the critical information and discover collective solutions. Ruth serves on the board of Grow Native Massachusetts, a small non-profit that promotes the recognition of the ecological potential of every corner of the state, no matter how small.

Johnny Caliendo

Mr. Caliendo has been a leader in the architecture community for over 25 years. He is currently a Senior Project Manager for IBI Group in Raleigh NC. He has worked on many different award-winning projects of various scales and types. His work has been published in foreign and domestic books and periodicals. He has served in leadership positions in government and industry organizations, including the University of Greensboro Development Board and the Board of Design Corps. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the College of Design in Raleigh, North Carolina. His service to the community also includes leadership in Jobs For Life, Raleigh Men’s Shelter, and Project Literacy. He is a LEED AP design professional and has designed both LEED Silver and Gold buildings.

Jay Deshmukh

An award-winning architect with over 20 years of experience, Jay is a recognized thought leader in institutional architecture of varied scales and typologies, in Canada and overseas.  She leads the design, strategic thinking and planning for education projects, and engages meaningfully with clients and stakeholders to define and implement the strategic vision of the project through place-centric design.  She is deeply engaged in the arts and design community in Toronto, as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Textile Museum of Canada, and as a frequent guest critic and lecturer at design schools. Presently, she is working effectively from home, leading the design of an integrated health sciences faculty with 5 schools, 26 user groups, and a large multidisciplinary team of professionals. 

Kyle Koppes

Mr. Koppes has over 16 years of experienced as a design Project Manager/Senior Transportation Engineer in the fields of complex road, highway, street and drainage design.  His experience includes new and rehabilitation projects of both rural and urban roadways/highways and he has experience in ODOT, ODOT-let and Local-let ODOT LPA roadway projects. He has considerable experience in the design of roadways including geometric design, pavement and drainage design, cost estimating and final plan preparation. Kyle has worked on a variety of roadway improvement projects using federal dollars and he has acted as Project Manager and Lead Design Engineer for numerous ODOT projects.

Stephen Jones is a registered architect and principal with thirteen years of experience on a variety of project types. Licensed in Washington and Utah, Steve has expertise in urban mixed-use, healthcare and multi-family projects. A leader and advocate for the architectural needs of under-served and vulnerable communities, he has been on the board of directors for Community Psychiatric Clinic (Seattle), the Sarah Daft Home (Salt Lake City) and Lifting Hands International.
