OAA Annual Conference

The 2018 OAA Annual Conference will explore architectural issues of the 21st century using the knowledge and skills of the profession to challenge existing models and develop innovative approaches to complex problems.

Director Brent Mauti will be presenting “Information Fusion…Harnessing the “I” for Lifecycle Data Manipulation”. His presentation will focus on the fusion of technology and design to help leverage information throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Associate | Manager Architecture, Ana-Francisca de la Mora, will be presenting “Bold Architecture and Structural Engineering on Transit Architecture”, focusing on big thinking and radical approaches when it comes to transit architecture, featuring the Toronto York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE).

AUDE Annual Conference

The Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE) conference provides an opportunity for discussion and consultation about the current challenges and opportunities across Higher Education Estates and Services. This year, IBI Group will be a headline sponsor, and the Learning+ team will be exhibiting at the conference which will be hosted at the University of Kent.

BioWales

BioWales is the flagship event for the life sciences sector in Wales, and has established itself as one of the UK’s leading life science conferences. Now in its 16th year, the event returns to the Wales Millennium Centre on March 7th, 2018. The theme of this year’s event is Innovation, Partnerships and Prosperity.

Directors Richard Golledge and Andrew Street will be exhibiting at the conference to discuss how science is powered by partnerships, and how our partnerships with Welsh institutions can in turn inspire innovation. CASH Annual Conference on School Facilities

The 39th CASH (California’s Coalition for Adequate Student Housing) Annual Conference on School Facilities will highlight the opportunities and challenges for school districts and their private sector partners presented by the implementation of Proposition 51. With school facility projects continuing to face state and local requirements that challenge districts to plan and complete projects on time and under budget, this year’s conference will cover topics that allow you to take advantage of Proposition 51 and how it can support your school building program. Join Architect Shari Gratke during the workshop From Concept to Reality, What Works and What Doesn’t? Using the Built Environment to Achieve Better Outcomes on February 27 from 2:30-4:30pm.

ACSA Annual Meeting

Architecture poses unavoidable ethical challenges and is inevitably entangled in questions of power and legitimation. During ACSA’s 106th Annual Meeting, The Ethical Imperative will seek to solicit wide reflection on the ethical challenges of architecture in a world in flux. Project Manager, Deborah Richmond, will be presenting at the Housing & Community Development Workshop on March 14, discussing housing and community development projects and practices that promote equity and ecology in the built environment.

Toronto Design Offsite Festival

IBI Group will be participating in the Toronto Offsite Design Festival, Canada’s largest cultural celebration of design. With a lobby installation entitled ‘The Space Between,’ the display at 55 St. Clair will form a figurative network that evolves with a feed of data about experiences and journeys in the neighbourhood, in an ode to the evolution of the Yonge & St. Clair area and our interaction with its public realm. In addition, IBI Director, David Hastings, is participating in a panel discussion on January 16 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Taking place in our lobby, this discussion will cover a simple premise: given the power to go back in time and undo one thing about Toronto, what would you change?
