Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada

With increased investment in building mass rapid transit, the time is opportune to discuss the design principles behind transit architecture that includes the preservation and creation of built heritage. Projects focus on more than just providing a transportation facility to move people, but rather as a catalyst for city building and continuity of the existing.

Join Architecture Manager, Ana-Francisca de la Mora and Transit Architecture Director, Charlie Hoang, as they present ‘Transforming Heritage with Transit Architecture.’ This session will focus on the process and tools used to deal with existing heritage components, expanding on the challenges of balancing existing and future needs while providing a safe and uplifting passenger experience.

Neighbourhoods of the Future

By 2035, many of us will have racked up our fair share of years. If the status quo goes unchallenged, there will be a serious shortage of decent living space for an ageing population.

The purpose of this event is to enable stakeholders to coalesce around a common cause: Reimagining our Neighbourhoods of the Future. Hear from Cities aspiring to develop connected large scale demonstrators and find out how to get involved. Working in partnership with The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, this event will also inform development of a new Reference Framework for Age-friendly Housing and Neighbourhoods.

2019 Pacific Innovation Fair

The 2019 Pacific Innovation Fair is one of the 17 Innovation Fairs delivered across the country by the Government of Canada’s Regional Federal Councils and the Privy Council Office. Partners from different levels of government, along with changemakers from the private sector will come together to share insights, promote growth and development, network, provide mentorship and challenge participants to expand their horizons.

Sketch the City, Clerkenwell Design Week

Clerkenwell, London, UK is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it one of the most important design hubs in the world and host to the annual Clerkenwell Design Week.

IBI Group is proud to be taking part in “the leading independent design event,” and are inviting the public to join us for a fun sketching masterclass. Our architects will provide one-to-one guidance, tips and tricks to help you produce your own unique sketch of the city.

European Healthcare Design

With the plenary theme of ‘Blurring the boundaries: Designing place-based health systems’, this year’s congress will explore how the global shift towards population- and place-based health systems are gaining momentum, facilitated by advances in science and technology.  The Congress, which will take place from Monday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 19 at the Royal College of Physicians, London, features eight dedicated streams, four on each day.

Parks School Conference

Inspired by the incredible diversity of parks, landscape and open spaces in this country, Alberta Recreation & Parks Association created Parks School to gather front line and mid-level staff to connect, learn, and develop their skills.

CCHF Conference

IBI Group are proud sponsors of this year’s Canadian Centre for Healthcare Facilities spring conference. CITE: Transit Priority Measures

The City of Edmonton is currently completing a Bus Network Redesign based on the 2017 Transit Strategy. In addition to creating a new network, the Strategy also calls for the implementation of Transit Priority Measures in congested areas to improve service reliability and operating speeds. IBI Group was retained to study locations where Transit Priority Measures could be applied.

Join Senior Transportation Engineer, Blair Smith, as he presents findings from the study at the Northern Alberta Section of the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE) luncheon, focusing on how and why the locations were identified.

The Ontario Government is taking bold steps to transform the province’s planning regime: proposing a major amendment to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017 and revealing a short-lived plan to extend significant power to municipalities to attract major employment uses.
